Strengths: Withrow is in a family neighborhood with a strong feeling for shinny and pleasure skating. Many committed skaters love this rink. Recent upgrades by Home Depot/Toronto Maple Leafs have improved rink access with wooden stairs, more benches, better flooring, fresh paint.
Areas for improvement: Ice is not always well-maintained. The phone number is not published for rink users so they can check rink conditions. The interior is a maze of tight rooms, and there are no windows to the outside so parents can watch their kids on cold days. No benches outside, either.
Next steps: add outdoor benches. Put in at least one window from change area. Remove the interior walls. Add amenities for youth like chess and checkers, two shinny tournaments a season, a minimalist snack bar, and weekly family-skate and youth skate events.
