Strengths: Wonderful design, in a prime location – in the middle of a big university and a block form the city’s biggest mall. Nice little changehouse, and enough shade from surrounding tall buildings that it’s protected from melting when the sun gets strong.
Areas for improvement: This rink lost marks for being to shamefully underused. Almost no one skates there, with all those people! This needs to be addressed (see below).
Next steps: City should partner with Ryerson to get a skate lending program, some campfires, some events with music. Also people should be allowed to play pond-style shinny hockey at times that suit.
