Harborfront Rink Opening Before City Rinks

Harborfront Rink

Harbourfront Rink opened November 19, 2005 -- the third week of November, which is when city compressor-run outdoor rinks used to open. It was a sunny day with a high of 8 degrees on November 19, but the rink was full of happy skaters and the ice was just fine. At this time of year the sun is so low and weak that a compressor-run ice rink is stable well above freezing. Can the City rink managers learn something from Harbourfront rink? We visited Harbourfront and got a rink tour from their operations director, Helder Melo. [See the Harbourfront Rink website.
