Strengths: Beautiful facility with excellent windows, in a very diverse neighborhood, in a wonderful park. This rink has very low usage, but it could be packed! And it could be a more popular permit rink as well.
Areas for improvement: This rink got a “fail” because it had low scores in each category. Unfriendly signs saying “NO PARENTS ALLOWED ON ICE UNLESS WEARING SKATES” do not help parents, perhaps new to skating themselves, to help their kids. Poor ice quality and confused staff. An orphan.
Next steps: welcoming communication and consistent ice quality is the key. Flyer the many nearby schools and the area. Skate rentals for newcomers and new skaters. A minimal snack bar, more simple benches inside and out. Weekly family-skate and youth-skate events.
