RINK REPORT CARD: 2007-2008

Irving W. Chapley Rink

F

205 Wilmington Ave

416-395-7880

Strengths: Very nicely designed rink building and comfortable skate-changing area, regrettably no visibility of rink. Has own zamboni and good ice quality

Areas for improvement: : This rink failed because of the poor access to the public – very limited public skating hours. Also there are no windows facing the rink, for parents to watch their children. Staff stay inside their unmarked office instead of interacting with skaters. Helmet rules not suited for shinny have reduced rink use especially by young men. Low usage.

Next steps: : Have the same amount of public use as other Toronto rinks. Amend the helmet rule to “recommended” instead of mandatory. Flyer the rink to surrounding schools, agencies, high-rises. Do weekly family-skate events
