There's nothing like outdoor skating

Dovercourt Rink profile

Features: Dovercourt Park had a city-staffed natural ice rink for many decades, until the program was cancelled in 1993. Since that time there have been a few years with neighbourhood-sponsored natural ice rinks, but that stopped years ago. Now a new rink is back, in the same place as the old ones -- on the baseball diamond.

A little Dovercourt Rink history, going back to the 1940's.

Rink Diary

only dirt mixed with snow on the diamond

There's no sign that anyone is making ice this year, at least, not yet.

Park neighbours report that there have been shinny games on the rink.

January 19 2015

At 10 pm there were no skaters but the rink looked like it might have been flooded recently. It seems to have stood up well to the rain and warmer weather of the past two days.

Rink Diary 2013-2014

Dec.29, 2013

From rink committee member Folkard: "There is great news regarding the ice rink! Frank and his friends did an amazing job in building the rink and folks are skating already. It's happening! Thank you so much!"
