Skate lending at City Hall (Nathan Phillips Square)

There's always a lineup for the skate rental...

...but there are not many benches to change into skates

There are very few benches outside so skaters can either sit on the ground or try to get a place in the tiny little change room:

At City Hall, skate rentals cost:

Children 12 and under $5.00; Adults $10.00; Skate Sharpening $8.00. Prices are based on a 2 hour rental. Helmets (not included in the price) $5.00.

The same company that runs the skate rental at this rink, also rents out skates at Gage Park in Brampton, Square one in Mississauga and the civic outdoor rink in Markham.

They do corporate rentals as well -- minimum 60 pairs, plus $250 flat rate. Their brochure says:

"We sharpen all of our rental skates before any event, and our qualified, on-site staff are on hand to provide sharpening services to any guest who bring their own pair to the rink."

Rates: Children (12 and under), 4 hour rental - $10, 8 hour rental - $18; Adults, 4 hour rental - $14, 8 hour rental - $25; Helmets (CSA approved) $6.00 for a 4 hour rental. Plus $14 for 4 hours of a skate aid and $8 for skate sharpening.

The web site lists this number: 1-647-380-1921.
