TORONTO STAR, JANUARY 3 1958: "It is true that the parks department operates 58 natural ice rinks for skating and 23 for hockey - or will do so, if and when there is enough frost. For all the freezing weather we get here most winters, the department might as well spare the trouble and expense, and get on with the job of multiplying the number of artificial ice rinks."

Shinny Hockey and Pleasure Skating Schedule

Shinny Levels Key: All Ages = All ages and skill levels, 13&under = 13 yrs & under with caregivers, slow paced, 14-17 = 14-17 yrs, medium paced, 18+ = 18 yrs and over, fast paced

Pleasure Skating: All ages and skill levels welcome. No pucks or sticks on the ice.

Monday
  • 11:00am - 1:00pm Shinny - all ages

We can open the change room earlier for groups - contact us at staff@christierink.ca or call 416-392-7687.

Skate Rental - Program Pending

Starting this year there’ll be skates for rent at special times. $2 suggested donation for skates, helmets are free. Bring government ID or a parent who can get you a skate rental membership.

School groups

Book ahead with recreation staff: Wednesday 9:30am - 11:30am, Thursday and Friday 1:00pm - 3:00pm. Contact Sarah at staff@christierink.ca or 416-392-7687.

FAMILY SKATE SUNDAYS!

Sunday afternoons are family friendly: sip hot chocolate over the campfire 1-3pm, with pleasure skating 1-5pm. Recreation staff will be there to make sure there's not a puck in sight and no rude behaviour - you can help them out by letting them know if you see a problem.

Inclement weather: The rink phone line (416-392-7687) will be updated regularly when the weather is bad to let you know the ice conditions.
