Feb.28, 2004: an unseasonably warm, sunny Saturday afternoon. No one skating, and the rink guard was not visible. Our visitor called "hello" several times into the rink house. Finally a friendly young man emerged, who said he was the building attendant. Our visitor asked why the rink was so full of water: were the compressors turned off already? The staff person said he had no idea of even where the compressors were -- that was not his area of responsibility.
